For twenty years I have been an automotive journalist. Like many car fans, I have always adored Porsche, for its history, its singularity, its evolution. Having previously described my love for the Range Rover, another unique vehicle, it seemed unimaginable to me not to celebrate the sixty years of the 911.
I have been able to do so by drawing on my own archive of more than five hundred adverts and catalogues, and by exploring the archives of the Porsche Museum, which collaborated closely in this this book. The commercial success of the 911 owes not a little to Porsche’s communication, which has proved simple, effective, and sometimes a bit provocative. Judge for yourself, the brand’s advertisements and catalogues are often little gems.
Updated from its previous format to include the later 3.2 Litre models through 1989. This Floyd Clymer publication includes complete technical data, service and maintenance information and comprehensive detailed instructions for the repair and overhaul of all major and minor mechanical and electrical components for the 1973 to 1989 Porsche 911G Series, 2.7, 3.0 and the 3.2 Litre models.
In its original format, this manual covered the Porsche 911 models through the 1978 model year. However, additional information for the earlier 2.7 and 3.0 Litre models that was not available at the time the original manual was published, is now included or appended to each chapter in this revised publication.
While this manual focuses on the 1973-1989 G series 911, much of the information is also applicable to the earlier 2.4 Litre (1971-73) models destined for the U.S.A., Australia, Japan and Canada that, due to emission requirements, were fitted with Bosch mechanical fuel injection (FIP). Consequently, this manual will also be of interest to owners of those 2.4 litre fuel injected models.
The manual is broken down into the following sections: Engine, Fuel System including Bosch mechanical fuel injection (FIP) continuous injection (CIS) and digital fuel injection (DME). Ignition Systems including Capacitive Discharge CDS, CDI and DME, Cooling, Heating & Exhaust Emission Systems, Clutch, Manual Transmission & Sportomatic Transmission, Rear Suspension & Drive Axles, Front Suspension, Steering, Brakes, Electrical System and Body. There is also an appendix to the rear of the manual that includes Technical Specifications and Wiring Diagrams.
While reprints of the factory manual are readily available, they are relatively expensive and we are pleased to be able to offer this reasonably priced alternative as a service to all 1973-1989 Porsche 911 enthusiasts worldwide.
248 pages, 311 illustrations plus an additional 66 pages of wiring diagrams, size 8.25 x 10.75 inches
Revised and updated to a larger format than the original, this Floyd Clymer publication includes complete technical data, service and maintenance information and comprehensive detailed instructions for the repair and overhaul of all major and minor mechanical and electrical components for the 1964 to 1973 Porsche 911 series of automobiles including the 2.0 Litre (1964-69), the 2.2 Litre (1969-71) and the 2.4 Litre (1971-73).
This manual is broken down into the following sections: Engine, Carburetters & Fuel System (including Fuel Injection), Ignition System (including Capacitive Discharge CDS system), Cooling, Heating & Exhaust Emission Systems, Clutch, Manual Transmission & Sportomatic Transmission, Rear Suspension & Drive Axles, Front Suspension, Steering, Brakes, Electrical System (including Wiring Diagrams) and Body (including Paint Codes & Door Hardware parts interchange). There is also a chapter that includes Torque Settings, comprehensive Technical Specifications and Lubrication information.
Profusely illustrated with more than 300 illustrations and charts, there is adequate detailed text and diagrams to assist in major refurbishing such as an engine rebuild or even a complete mechanical renovation making it an invaluable resource for collectors and restorers of these iconic automobiles.
206 pages, 300 plus illustrations, size 8.25 x 10.75 inches.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the Porsche 911, Berlin Motor Books has published the book PORSCHE 911 60 YEARS 1963-2023, limited to 911 copies.
More than 60 years have passed since the Porsche 911 was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1963, still as the Type 901. If things keep going this way, the Porsche 911 will surpass the 65-year production run of the VW Beetle (1938-2003). The book “Porsche 911 -60 Years” takes an in-depth look at how a small team of employees was able to create a sports car legend that is still unmatched today.
All the important contemporary witnesses to the development of the 911 have their say in detailed interviews, including visionary Ferry Porsche, who came up with the only sensible concept for the successor to the 356.
And, of course, a detailed conversation with F.A. Porsche, under whose direction this century-old design in automotive engineering was created, is not to be missed.
Porsche engineering legend Hans Mezger reports on the development of the 911 engine, but Helmuth Bott, Peter Falk and Herbert Linge also provide intensive insights into the exciting period of 911 development.
In addition to interviews with contemporary witnesses, the book presents unpublished color photographs of the 901 presentation tour in 1963 and 1964. In addition, all 82 Neunelfer models that rolled off the production line as the Type 901 at the start of series production can be presented in detail for the first time.
The book also takes an in-depth look at the first sales brochures and the color palette of the original 911. The book is rounded off by a detailed buying guide, which “Mr. 901”, Alois Ruf has created exclusively. There is probably no other expert in the world who knows more about the Porsche 901 prototypes and the very early 911s. Alois Ruf also owns the oldest Porsche 911 ever and reveals in an interview how he came to own this sensational one-off.

The Porsche 911, an epitome of a German sports car, is a world-renowned import success and dream car. In this multi-faceted work, the 99 most important models of the legend are presented chronologically as miniatures in a 1/43rd scale, each with a picture and text page, in an informative, entertaining and surprising way: as Urban Outlaw, flat speedster, Germany’s Next top model, as a wolf in sheep’s clothing… all put together by author Jörg Walz, a collector since childhood.
The author places the snapshots of vehicle miniatures in a ‘real’ environment and presents a well-assorted digital car museum. The charming interplay between a small car model set into a lively background is fascinating. The originally spontaneously created photo collection is completely simply “iPhotographed”, without further aids or artificial arrangements, initially taken for Instagram.
